This new facility serves patients with brain and spinal cord injuries. Taking advantage of site orientation and topography, both levels provide direct access for outdoor therapy opportunities. The quiet upper level is dedicated to inpatients and provides convenient access to discreet outdoor therapy gardens. Easterly orientation of the bedrooms allows morning sun to help maintain the patient's circadian rhythms, important to those impacted by a brain injury.
Patient bedrooms & bathrooms were carefully conceived to ease access and staff assistance while being very conscious of the patients needs. A central staff core allows strong supervision even during the third shift when staffing counts are reduced. Four special patient rooms have direct staff supervision for those patients needing additional care. Rooms with built-in lifts address bariatric needs and a suite provides additional space for an attending family. Another feature is a transitional apartment for patients who are about to graduate to greater independence.
PT gyms are featured on both levels. An indoor ADL park features a real car, a mock bus, mini movie theater, café, store and hair salon which simulate environments of everyday life. Other features include hydro-therapy pool, diagnostic imaging, a spacious two-story lobby and dining facilities.
