The Details

This 55,000 square foot, 201-bed dormitory is the first building project in the implementation of the University’s housing plan.

Ultimately, each 1970s-era residence hall on site will be demolished and replaced by new state-of-the-art facilities. As the Architect of Record on the KBE Construction Design-Build team, JSA is responsible for taking the project from bridging documents through to completion.

Sited halfway up a hill and adjacent to the University’s observatory, the building has panoramic views of the campus including the rotunda and mall, as well as Monticello in the distance.

  • Interior view of a seating area at the Kellogg House student residence (University of Virginia). The photo shows a wall of large windows overlooking a campus area with rolling hills in the background. Two dark grey sofas, several ottomans, and a lounge chair are gathered facing each other. The walls are a neutral light grey/beige and the carpet features a dark abstract pattern.
