Limited land availability on the downtown urban campus of Maine’s largest hospital meant the creation of satellite patient care centers. JSA was asked to create a masterplan for a new campus to create opportunities to pull high-demand services away from the overtaxed downtown location.
The first step in the implementation of this satellite campus plan was to create a new 80,000 sf outpatient care center. The design allows easy access to patient services in a new building that complements the architectural image of the parent hospital. This facility houses a Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, a Women’s Health Center as well as Internal Medicine, OB/GYN and other physician office practices.
The three-story glass atrium lobby welcomes patients and provides clear access to the physician office suites. The cardiac rehabilitation center has its own entry and plenty of close parking on a lower level to address the needs of this special patient population.
